One step closer to Science

Reserve employees talk about scientific work and the vocation of a scientist − to schoolchildren of the region

Last week, on the eve of the Day of Belarusian Science, within the framework of the information and educational project “School of an Active Citizen” (SAC), employees of the scientific department of the State Public Institution “Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve” held a number of meetings with schoolchildren of the Lepel district on the topic “My Motherland Belarus in Persons. Glorious names in science and education" (about scientists, representatives of the education system).

So, on January 25, the Domzheritsy Basic School was visited by the reserve’s senior researcher Alexander Lukashuk. During the dialogue with students of 5-9 grades, we talked about the role of science and education in our country, the structure of education, and changing the principle of education from “one for life” to “lifelong education.”

Alexander Olegovich talked with the pupils about the researcher profession, spoke both about the results of his entomological research and about the research that is carried out by the scientific department of the reserve in general. Questions were also raised about how one can become a biologist and what’s the most difficult thing here.

We hope that our staff has captivated and inspired young minds to get involved in science.
