The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve is a large natural laboratory for environmental monitoring. Zoological and botanical research has been carried out there since 1924.

The scientific research activities of the reserve consist of conducting stationary year-round research aimed at studying natural complexes and the dynamics of natural processes to assess and forecast the state of ecosystems, objects of flora and fauna, developing the scientific basis for nature conservation and the conservation of biological diversity.

Particular attention is paid to monitoring the numbers of animal and plant species rare in Europe and Belarus, and measures are being developed to protect them.

At the base monitoring station, research is carried out daily to assess the impact of various types of pollutants entering the Reserve territory. All information obtained under the environmental monitoring programs of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve is widely used both in Belarus and in a number of European scientific centers and the EuroMAB system.
