Fishing is cool!

Winter ice fishing competitions were held in the Berezinsky Reserve

On January 28, the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve hosted traditional winter fishing competitions among our staff. This year they were dedicated to the 98th anniversary of the reserve. Here is a photo report from this event. Ice fishing enthusiasts from different departments of the institution, as well as numerous guests, gathered on the ice of Plavno Lake. The weather contributed to outdoor activities: light frost, no wind and lack of precipitation.

The competition started at 10 am with a solemn line formation. The beginning of the competition was announced by the chairman of the judging commission − the director of the reserve. Andrei Mikhailovich Prokoshin made a welcoming speech and wished all the participants good luck!

Solemn raising of the flag with the emblem of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve − and the contestants dispersed throughout the lake.

Some guests spent their spare time riding a snowmobile on the lake.

A field kitchen, where everyone could have delicious scrambled eggs with cracklings and hot tea, was also organized.

After 4 hours from the beginning of the competition, the results were presented to the judging commission, so the participants were impatiently waiting for the awards ceremony.
